Georgia defensive back Major Burns has entered the transfer portal, as the sophomore announced the move via his Twitter account.
Burns signed as a 4-star safety out of Baton Rouge, La., in the 2020 signing class. He appeared in six games last season for the Bulldogs, picking up five tackles.
Beyond those names listed above, Georgia also has William Poole and Daran Branch at the position as well.
Burns was a last-minute addition to the 2020 signing class, as he joined the class the day before the start of the December signing period. He was a one-time Texas A&M and LSU commit during the recruiting process, where he rated as the No. 182 player in the 247Sports Composite ratings for the 2020 cycle.

With Burns in the transfer portal, Georgia’s projected fall scholarship numbers move to 82. Teams cannot have more than 85 scholarship players on the roster, meaning the Bulldogs do have even more room to potentially add via the transfer portal.
The NCAA recently passed legislation that would allow for a one-time transfer rule, where players would not have to sit out a season upon transferring. Players have until July 1 to notify schools of their decision to transfer if they wish to be eligible for the 2021 season.
Georgia finished spring practice on April 17 with its G-Day scrimmage. Burns had six tackles for the second-team defense in the scrimmage. The first game of the 2021 season for Georgia is on Sept. 4, when the Bulldogs take on Clemson.
